How does link tracking work?

Link tracking creates a special link in place of any URL you’ve included in your email.  If the recipient clicks on the tracked link, our server gets pinged with the IP address so we can give you relevant information about the receiver like where they opened the email, when they opened it and even what device they used to read it.

To enable Link Tracking, click the Yesware drop-down menu in the top left corner of Gmail. From there, select Preferences > Compose Options and Toggle On 'Track Links'.

You can verify that a link is going to be tracked by hovering over the hyperlinked URL or text and seeing that the destination includes "".

As a best practice, we recommend naming your links rather than leaving them as a URL. This decreases the chances of your message being marked as spam.

Link tracking is also available on our Outlook product for individual emails and emails using templates. In Outlook, open a new compose window and select the "Tracked Link" option in the Yesware ribbon. Also be sure to check your Yesware preferences to enable "Track Template Links".
